[By the way: our esteemed DM has confused his military ranks. It's
Ensign Expendable, who reports to Sergeant Superfluous. Neither is an officer.]

(While gathering the pouches, the vial, the arrows, the thieves' tools, and the hook, and binding Grum's hands together in front of him with the rope, looping the excess around his neck and tying one serious knot around his neck as well. I leave the mace, the bow, the dagger, but keep them well away from Grum, offer them to anyone who wants them.)
"Back to the caravan, then. We've got the stolen goods, the thief, and wounded to tend to. Grell, would an ordinary healing potion help these men, or do they need a cure for poison? Does anyone have one?
[assuming the answers are 'no,' 'yes,' and 'no':]
"Bishop, methinks you and I can ride the fastest safely, so we should take Gimble and the guard. Perhaps you are stronger than I, so I should take the halfling...? I assume the hound will run behind us. Grell, we are all much in your debt-- for subduing this man, and for keeping him alive for questioning. Can you keep him prisoner and ride back? If he's too much trouble to keep on your own horse, I'm sure he wouldn't mind a brisk run
behind your horse if suitably motivated with this leash. Drusilla, has your bird seen any sign of the stolen horse?"
While talking, I've been bundling Gimble up onto my horse, assuming Binkles will allow it.

Yeah, yeah, I know. We've got a summoned demon to deal with and it took us six months to dispatch two half-orcs...

whoops! Aaron and I were writing our posts at the same time.
Other than the "flames can wait" bit, Acavel does and says what is written below.

Amalgith is a new father today (yet again!) so we may not hear from him for a while. But my friend Bob from high school is reported to be joining us soon (probably weeks not days-- he's in transit to Bristol).
Acavel launches into an immediate comprehensive search of the body, including a quick pulse check (though it sounds like we killed 'im pretty thoroughly, once everything came together...). While doing so, he says: "I'm afraid there's nothing I can do with the flames, but perhaps they need to wait a moment longer. Lady Sorceress, does your familiar see any others? When we first arrived it seemed to me that there were two arrows fired at us at once, though it was hard to tell. Master Healer, how fare the wounded? And does anyone see this man's horse? It may bear saddlebags that we would not want to lose."
(We've been at this for six months now, and we've just killed our second opponent! woo-hoo!)

Hmm. I'm standing directly behind the bad guy's back. I have a stabbing instrument in my hands. Back... stabbing. Back... stabbing. What shall I do?
(Move: backstab if available, ordinary sword strike if not. I don't mind if we don't kill him-- questioning's always fun-- but we've sure got to injure him, and I don't hold back.)

Hmm-- Drusilla's "Attack of Opportunity" probably happens *before* my next action, right? If so, scratch the "stop-look-and-listen" and switch to "rush to the spot with sword in hand." (I may not be the best-equipped for melee, but I'm better off than our now-visible sorceress...)

To self: "Damn." Lacking any choice, I'm going to do a full-round stop-look-and-listen, trying to get any kind of bearing, looking for moving shadows cast by the firelight, etc.
